Anza VP says SIMD-0389 proposal targets 10x cut in Solana account rent with scope for 100x reduction

On December 12, Anza's Vice President of Core Engineering Brennan Watt said at the Solana Breakpoint conference that proposal SIMD-0389 is designed to reduce Solana account creation rent by 10x, with potential to expand the cut to 100x, BlockBeats reported. In the Solana network, Account Rent is a storage fee required to keep an account's data permanently on-chain. Anza's analysis of the safety slowdown mechanism, which was discussed recently at SolanaConf, indicates the change could unlock broader adoption by reclaiming hundreds of millions of dormant SOL while maintaining network security.
