Venus Protocol hit by $3.6M exploit on BNB Chain involving THE token loops

Venus Protocol, a BNB Chain lending platform, lost about $3.6 million after an attacker manipulated THE token liquidity to amplify borrowing through repeated flash-loan-style loops. The attacker had accumulated roughly 14.5 million THE (about 84% of circulating supply) and later cycled exposure to around 53.2 million THE. Venus suspended the THE market and tightened collateral rules, flagging six tokens including BCH, LTC, UNI, AAVE, FIL, and TWT.

Matcha Meta breach via SwapNet drains $16.8M; warnings issued Jan 25–26, 2026

Matcha Meta, a DEX aggregator, reported a breach linked to liquidity provider SwapNet. Security firms tracked about $16.8 million drained, including ~10.5M USDC swapped for ~3,655 ETH on Base, with assets bridging to Ethereum. The team warned on January 25–26, 2026 that users should revoke approvals to the SwapNet router.
