AI Data Center Boom Rekindles Dispute Over Bitcoin Mining Security and Power Costs

Crypto trader Ran Neuner argued on Sunday that AI data centers are drawing Bitcoin miners away by paying more for electricity, which he said could weaken network security. Others including Adam Back and investor Fred Krueger countered that Bitcoin's difficulty adjustment would reduce competition, push out inefficient miners and restore profitability. Neuner also pointed to hashrate being down 14.5% from an October peak and said Bitcoin's next price move could shape whether the AI shift becomes a lasting threat.
